Jim Hodges has been in practice, primarily representing creditors, since January of 1968. He was a senior partner in a local San Diego law firm for over 33 years until opening his own office in the Pacific Beach area of San Diego in 2004. He grew up in San Diego County, and earned a degree in accounting in 1964, cum laude, from San Diego State University, where he was elected to Beta Gamma Delta Honorary Business Fraternity, and was a member and officer of Lambda Chi Alpha Social Fraternity.

Mr. Hodges received his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1967, where he was a member of Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity, and passed the California Bar that summer. He was a Member and Editor of the University of San Diego Law Review from 1965 to 1967, and was the author of the 1969 San Diego Law Review article entitled “The Wayward Serviceman: His Constitutional Rights and Responsibilities.”

After a brief period with a national CPA firm following the bar exam, he served as a Staff Attorney in the United States Navy Judge Advocate General’s Department at the Naval Air Station, Memphis, Tennessee, from 1968 to 1971, specializing in criminal prosecution. He also served as an Associate Professor of Business Law at San Diego State University from 1973 to 1979.

Mr. Hodges is admitted to practice before the courts of California, is a member of the State Bar of California, and the San Diego County Bar Association, and has chaired on multiple occasions various County Bar sections. He has lectured extensively at various bar association, credit manager and claims manager sessions, and at numerous continuing education classes for attorneys on creditors’ rights and collection proceedings.
